Introduction
You can connect your Agilysys InfoGenesis POS to WISK directly through its API to import your sales data.
Important: Agilysys charges a separate licensing fee for API access, billed directly by Agilysys — contact your Agilysys representative for current pricing.
There is also an integration through daily email reports available, however it doesn't include support for modifiers:
Note: If you have an existing email integration and wish to switch over to the direct API integration please see "Switching from the Email Integration"
Requesting API Access from Agilysys
To connect via the API, you'll first need to request API credentials from Agilysys. Contact your Agilysys account representative and let them know you'd like to enable API access for your InfoGenesis POS so it can integrate with WISK.
Important: As a reminder, the Agilysys InfoGenesis API is a paid add-on purchased directly from Agilysys. There is typically a one-time setup fee, and then a monthly fee. Your Agilysys account representative can provide current pricing.
Agilysys will provide you with three pieces of information once your request is approved:
a Base URL
a Username, and
a Password.
You'll need all three to complete the integration. They will appear in this format:
Field | Example format |
Base URL |
*"serviceXX" is a placeholder. The URL you receive will show something else. |
Username | 8-character alphanumeric code |
Password | 8-character alphanumeric code |
Setup Process
Once you have the three pieces of information you can either share them with the WISK Team to complete the setup, or enter them yourself.
Note: If you are already using the Agilysys InfoGenesis email integration please send your credentials to the WISK Team so they can ensure the transition goes smoothly.
Send WISK Your Credentials
Once Agilysys has sent your Base URL, Username, and Password, share them with your WISK Customer Success contact or WISK Support through a secure channel(rather than sending them by email or in chat).
This information could be shared through a password manager link, on a call, or through a file.
Once the credentials have been added by the WISK Team you can delete or revoke access to the shared file / link as they are no longer needed.
Note: You're also welcome to enter these credentials yourself — see the next section for the steps.
If you let the WISK Team add your credentials, let them know your preferences for importing modifiers. See Customizing Your Sales Data / POS Items.
Entering the Credentials Yourself
On the WISK Web Portal, hover your cursor over your username on the bottom left, and click "Venue Settings" on the menu that appears
Scroll down to the "POS Integrations" section and click "Add POS Integration"
Select Agilysys InfoGenesis from the drop-down menu (Agilysys on its own is the email integration)
Enter the Base URL, Username, and Password provided by Agilysys in the matching fields
At this time you can choose your customization options for modifiers and sales data. See Customizing Your Sales Data / POS Items
When finished, click "Save"
The window closes and reopens. If it doesn't you can go to the integration and click "Edit". You will now see your revenue centers populate in the table.
Note: Right after saving, select the revenue centers and revenue categories you want to import while the integration is still initializing. If none are selected, everything is imported. You can always configure your revenue centers and categories later, see Revenue Centers and Categories.
Customizing Your Sales Data / POS Items
During the integration setup or after it's complete, you can customize how your sales data / POS Items appear in WISK. This is essential if you make extensive use of modifiers.
Note: These options can be changed at any time. Any changes apply moving forward unless you choose to reimport your sales data from a specific date.
We recommend after connecting your POS and selecting some settings to see how the POS Items appear in your account. If you need to customize them further, it's best to do that before you proceed with mapping POS Items.
Include modifiers - When checked, this imports modifiers that alter the selling price of the item (typically an upcharge). These modifiers are appended to the POS Item.
Include all POS Items even if not sold - By default, WISK only imports menu items with sales. If you create a new menu item in your POS, it won’t appear as a POS Item in your account until it is sold. If you check this box, it will appear as a POS Item before it is sold, and can be mapped. Since it imports everything, this can create a large number of POS Items
Import Modifiers as Separate POS Items - When checked, modifiers appear as separate POS Items instead of being appended to the main POS Item. This reduces the amount of mapping required because you just need to map the modifier once instead of mapping every single combination the main POS Item can be sold with. Depending on how you use modifiers, some may lose context without the base item (for example, Double) and can’t be mapped properly
Include modifiers with a price of 0 - When checked, this imports modifiers that do not alter the price of the item. These could be customization options such as what toppings to include. These modifiers are also appended to the POS Item unless the option to import separately is toggled on.
Revenue Centers & Categories
If your property runs a single Agilysys InfoGenesis account across several food & beverage outlets — common in hotels with more than one restaurant or bar — you don't need to import every outlet's sales into every WISK venue.
When you set up the integration for the first time, your revenue centers appear. This is because the connection needs to be established before the table can populate.
You can select to only import sales from specific Revenue Centers so that each WISK venue only pulls in the sales for its own outlet, instead of the whole property's.
You can toggle on the specific ones you want while the integration is still initializing. If you select them later, the change only applies to sales going forward, so contact WISK Support to clear and reimport past sales.
If you only have one venue in WISK you will likely want to import all revenue centers.
Note: If no Revenue Centers are selected it imports all sales across all Revenue Centers by default. In other words it behaves the same as though all boxes are checked.
The API integration also pulls every revenue category it has access to, including Food, even if you only manage Beverage in WISK. You can select which categories to import, which keeps food items and their modifiers out of a beverage account. If no categories are checked, all categories are imported.
Important: Category selection assumes your categories are set up correctly in Agilysys InfoGeneis. If sales are ever missing, check that the item is in the expected category.
Reimporting Sales Data
After making changes to your modifiers, revenue centers or categories, they apply to any sales data imported from that point forward.
When you save the changes, you can apply them to the past by reimporting your sales data. You'll see the following prompt after clicking "Save".
When you click "Yes" you can choose if you want to reimport sales from a completed inventory or a specific day to the present.
For more information about reimporting sales, see:
Note: You can only reimport sales for "open" inventory periods. You won't be able to reimport sales beyond your last locked inventory. If you have no locked inventories, you can reimport up to the maximum number of days allowed for the specific POS
Switching from the Email Integration
If you currently send WISK the daily Product Mix report by email, you can move to the API integration without losing your sales history.
When you have the credentials please reach out to your WISK contact so we can perform the cutover. We'll confirm your desired settings for the integration.
When everything is done there will be a clear dividing line between your last sale imported by email, and sales imported by the API integration.
We'll confirm everything is working correctly and then deactivate the email integration.
For example lets say you have been using the email integration and want to cutover to the API integration on Oct 1st. Your account will have imported the email sales for Sept 30th. When the API integration is added on Oct 1st, it will only import sales from Oct 1st moving forward.
Note: Since the API integration has the option to import modifiers there will be new POS Items that require mapping.
