Introduction
By connecting your Oracle MICROS Simphony Cloud point-of-sale directly to WISK, your sales data imports automatically for costing, variance tracking, and recipe management — no manual uploads or daily reports required.
Most of the setup is handled by the WISK Team once you've gathered a few pieces of information from your Oracle environment.
Before You Start: Confirm Your API License
To complete the integration your Simphony Cloud environment needs a Business Intelligence (BI) API license active.
This isn't included with a standard Simphony subscription, so it has to be requested separately. Getting this in place can take some time so we recommend starting the process early.
Your Oracle salesperson, or your certified Oracle Food & Beverage reseller, can activate this for you.
If you've connected another reporting or analytics tool to Micros before, you may already have this license active — worth checking before requesting (and paying for) it again.
Ask specifically for the BI API. A similarly-named license, the Simphony Transaction Services (Gen 2) API, won't work for this integration.
What WISK Needs From You
Once your BI API license is active, you'll need to gather 7 pieces of information from your Oracle Simphony environment (found under Reporting & Analytics and the Enterprise Management Console). Your Oracle representative or implementation partner can help locate these if you're not sure where to look.
Field | What it is |
Location ID / Location Reference | Your store number or property name |
Client ID | Auto-generated when your API Account is created |
Username | Chosen when you create the API Account |
Password | Set via the confirmation email Oracle sends after the API Account is created |
Organization | Your Enterprise Short Name, found in Reporting & Analytics |
Base URL | The BI API Base URL (sometimes labeled "App Server URL") |
Auth URL | The Authentication URL (sometimes labeled "Auth Server URL") |
Once you have all 7 fields, share them with your WISK Customer Success contact through a secure channel(rather than sending them by email or in chat).
This information could be shared through a password manager link, on a call, or through a file.
Once the credentials have been added by the WISK Team you can delete or revoke access to the shared file / link as they are no longer needed.
Setting Up the Integration
This integration is set up by the WISK team on our end, so once we have your 7 fields:
We'll add your credentials to your venue under Venue Settings → POS Integrations.
We'll enter your desired setup for how modifiers should import (see below) and, if your property runs multiple outlets off one Simphony account, select which Revenue Centers to import (also see below).
We'll run an initial import and confirm your sales data is coming through correctly before letting you know the integration is live.
Customizing How Modifiers Import
Modifiers (add-ons, upgrades, and special requests) can be imported a few different ways — let your WISK contact know which combination fits your menu, or we can help you decide based on how your menu is set up. These aren't mutually exclusive; more than one can be turned on at once.
Note: These options can be changed at any time. Any changes apply moving forward unless you choose to reimport your sales data from a specific date.
Include modifiers - When checked, this imports modifiers that alter the selling price of the item. These modifiers are appended to the POS Item.
Import Modifiers as Separate POS Items - When checked, modifiers appear as separate POS Items instead of being appended to the main POS Item. This reduces the amount of mapping required because you just need to map the modifier once instead of mapping every single combination the main POS Item can be sold with. Depending on how you use modifiers, some may lose context without the base item (for example, Double) and can’t be mapped properly
Include modifiers with a price of 0 - When checked, this imports modifiers that do not alter the price of the item. These could be customization options such as what toppings to include. These modifiers are also appended to the POS Item unless the option to import separately is toggled on.
Multiple Outlets / Revenue Centers
If your property runs a single Simphony account across several food & beverage outlets — common in hotels with more than one restaurant or bar — you don't need to import every outlet's sales into every WISK venue.
We can select to only import sales from specific Revenue Centers so that each WISK venue only pulls in the sales for its own outlet, instead of the whole property's.
Note: If no Revenue Centers are selected it imports all sales across all Revenue Centers by default. In other words it behaves the same as though all boxes are checked.
Let your WISK contact know which Revenue Center(s) correspond to each of your venues, and we'll configure this as part of setup.
