Introduction

As you use WISK, over time it analyzes your consumption data to identify items that are under, over, or dead stock.

This is important because it gives you a recommended amount to order for each item, known as the “WISK Par”. This number is calculated by using your:

  1. Last 6 weeks of consumption data

  2. Ideal stock days

You can learn more about WISK Par and Ideal Stock days here:

Placing Orders

On the “Prepare Orders” page, when adding items to a distributor cart, you’ll see a status beside each item indicating whether it is under, over, or dead stock.

An arrow points to the item status under the "Quantity to order" column on the Prepare Orders page.

You can learn more by placing your cursor over the info icon in the “WISK Par” column.

An arrow points to the "i" icon in the "WISK Par" column where it displays the information.

Item Statuses

Understock - Based on your rate of consumption and your current stock count, you don’t have enough of this item to last your ideal stock days. You should order more to not risk selling out and losing potential sales revenue.

Overstock - This item is being used, but based on your rate of consumption, you have more than you need to last the ideal stock days range. You likely don’t need to order more at this time. Ordering more now will tie up your cash flow.

Deadstock - This item’s rate of consumption is 0, or close to 0. This is stock that you shouldn’t order because it isn’t selling. Ordering more would just tie up cash on your shelf. Dead stock should try to be moved out of the system via drink specials etc.

Note: WISK provides suggestions but will never prevent you from adding over or deadstock items to your cart.

Predefined Filters

You can also use the predefined filters to view all items that are classified as overstock or understock.

The "Understock" and "Overstock and deadstock" predefined filters are highlighted for emphasis.

Overstock / Understock Analysis Report

For more information about items labelled as understock, overstock, or deadstock, there is the Overstock / Understock Analysis Report.

You can access the report by clicking Reports / Analytics > Overstock / Understock on the left menu bar.

An arrow points to "Overstock / Understock Analysis" on the Reports / Analytics page.

On this page you’ll see every item that has been identified as overstock or understock.

You can toggle between Overstock (which includes deadstock) and Understock, and choose whether the calculations are based on Consumption or Sales data.

Note: By default, items are sorted by the highest to lowest cost, which highlights the items that require the most attention

For each item, it displays:

  • Current Stock -Takes the "Stock" count and subtracts your sales since the most recent inventory to provide a theoretical current stock count (called “Real Time Stock”)

  • Daily consumption - The average daily consumption of an item based on the last 6 weeks of data for your venue.

  • Weekly consumption - The average weekly consumption of an item based on the last 6 weeks of data for your venue.

  • Stock Days - The number of days it would take to reduce the current stock count of the item to 0 based on daily consumption. If it displays as "Deadstock", there is no consumption of the item.

  • Stock Weeks - The number of weeks it would take to reduce the current stock count of the item to 0 based on weekly consumption.

  • Recommended Stock - This is the amount of stock that WISKs recommends you have on hand. It looks at your daily/weekly consumption per item and provides the value needed to last your Ideal Stock days. This is also called your WISK Par.

  • Over / Under Stock - This compares your recommended stock to your current stock level to see if you have more on less on hand than you need.

Over / Under Stock = Current Stock - Recommended Stock

  • Over / Under Stock Cost - The value of your overstock, or in the case of understock, the value of what you need to purchase to get to the recommended level.
