Introduction

In most cases, beer kegs won't have barcodes so you'll need to add them to your venue manually.

You can add beer kegs on both the WISK Web Portal and mobile app.

After adding a keg, If you have a freight/shipping scale and plan to weigh your partial kegs during inventory, you’ll need to add a full keg weight.

Note: Don't use the Bluetooth scale to weigh your kegs. The supported models of Bluetooth scales only have a max capacity of 11lbs (5000g) - 13lbs (6000g). Placing a keg on the Bluetooth scale may damage it. You can learn more about recommended keg scales here.

Adding Weights to a Beer Keg

If you’re weighing your partial kegs when taking inventory, you must add at least a full weight for each type of keg that you have.

Adding an empty weight is optional, but will provide you a more accurate measurement of how much remains in the keg. You can learn more about the methods for inventorying your partial beer kegs, and adding weights here:

To add a weight to a keg, we recommend using the mobile app:

  1. On the “Add Item” or “Edit Item” screen, scroll down and tap the “Full Weights” field”

The "Full weights" field is highlighted for emphasis.
  2. Tap the “Add Weight” button

An arrow points at the "Add weight" button.
  3. Select the unit of measurement and enter the full weight of that keg. Then tap "Done".

The weight has been entered as 63kg and the "Done" button is highlighted for emphasis.

Note: No matter what unit you select, it converts the amount entered into grams. Grams is the baseline unit used for item weights

  4. If you have multiple full kegs of the same type of beer, you can add more weights and it will create an average weight that is used during inventory. You can add another weight by tapping the “+” button. Otherwise, tap the back arrow

The weight of 63kg (63,000g) has been added. An arrow points at the back button.
  5. The full weights display. If you have empty kegs, you can tap “Empty Weights” and repeat the process. When finished, tap "Save"

The full weight has been added and the "Save" button is highlighted for emphasis.

Note: You can add weights on the web, but they must be entered in grams at this time. Using the app saves you from having to convert the weight into grams manually.
