Over the past years, the WISK Team has worked hard to offer the best bar inventory app possible. Our focus has been on the beverage side of operations, and now we’re seeing an increased interest in food inventory from our customers.

In order to make WISK an all-in-one platform for your inventory needs, we’ve started working to support food.

If you’d like to participate in the alpha testing of our food inventory, you may send a request to support@wisk.ai. Customer feedback has always been important to us and has driven the development of our platform.

Food Features

Note: This page will be updated periodically as new features become available for testing. Most features will be available on the WISK Web Portal first, then rolled out to the mobile app. If you're not part of the testing group, you won't see these features.

Additional Measurement Options for Items (Web)

When creating new items on the WISK Web Portal, you can now select weight and units under measurement options. Before, you could only select a unit of measurement as volume.

Weight - With the present implementation, this allows you to create packaged items that have a defined weight/mass (for example, a 5kg bag of flour).

Units - You can now create items that are measured in individual units that don’t require a weight or volume. For example, if you’re counting lemons, or other stock that is used as garnishes, or merchandise that you sell at your venue that you wish to inventory (hats, t-shirts, etc.).

Note: Weight-based / unit inventory will be available in an upcoming app release. In the mean-time, you can create items for costing purposes and will be able to inventory them when the feature becomes available.

Sub-Recipes

Sub-recipes are used to create new prepared items from your existing inventory that can be used for mapping your POS Items and costing purposes.

For example, if a number of your dishes use the same tomato sauce you prepare in the venue, you could create a sub-recipe for it. You then add the sub-recipe to the POS Item of each dish that uses it. This saves you time when adding the recipes, and provides accurate costing.

Another example would be if you wish to track the costing of your garnishes. if you have been counting lemons in WISK (using units). You can create a sub-recipe to say that each lemon should create 10 lemon wedges. You can then add those lemon wedges to your recipe under POS Items to get the costing.

Creating a Sub-Recipe

To create sub-recipes:

1. Click “Sales” on the side menu bar

2. Click “Sub-Recipes”

3. Click “New sub-recipe”

4. Give the sub-recipe a title. In this example, we’ll say “Lemon Wedge”.

5. Click the “Edit” button to define the yield. In other words, how much this sub-recipe creates.

6. Select the unit of measurement, from volume, weight, or unit. Then select the quantity. In this example, we’ll say that the sub-recipe creates 10 units. In other words, it will create 10 lemon wedges.

7. Click “Save”

8. Click “Save” to create the sub-recipe

Adding Ingredients to a Sub-Recipe

With the sub-recipe created, you’ll now add ingredients to it.

To add ingredients:

1. Click into the “WISK Items” column of the sub-recipe

2.Click “WISK Items” to search for an ingredient (in this example, Lemons)

3. After selecting the ingredient, enter the quantity and measurement used and click “Add”.

4. The ingredient then appears in the sub-recipe. You can continue to add the rest of the ingredients as needed.

In this example, 1 lemon yields 10 lemon wedges.

With the sub-recipe created, you’ll be able to select it when adding recipes to your POS Items.

POS Mapping with Sub-Recipes

To add sub-recipes to a POS Item:

1. Open the POS Item on the WISK Web Portal

2. Search for the sub-recipe in the “WISK Items” field and click it

3. Enter the amount of the sub-recipe used. In this case, we’re adding 1 lemon wedge to the drink, so we’ll select 1 unit.

4. Click “Add” and the sub-recipe is added to the POS Item recipe.

5. The “Cost” updates based on the amount of the sub-recipe added

By adding the garnish this way, the drink costing adjusts based on the most recent invoice added for the lemons. If the cost per unit of the lemons increases or decreases, the beverage cost for this POS Item will adjust.
