Introduction

Integrating your TouchBistro POS with WISK is a quick and straightforward process you can set up on your own.

Please follow these steps to complete the integration:

  1. Enable WISK in your TouchBistro Cloud account

  2. Enter your TouchBistro Restaurant ID in WISK

Enable WISK in TouchBistro Cloud

  1. Go to https://www.touchbistro.com/help/articles/enabling-wisk/ and follow the steps to enable WISK in your TouchBistro Cloud account.

  2. Copy your restaurant ID

Note: If you don’t enable WISK in your TouchBistro Cloud account first, the integration won’t be successful.

Enter Your Restaurant ID

  1. Hover your cursor over your username on the bottom left, and click “Venue Settings” on the menu that appears

An arrow points to the "Venue Settings" menu option.

  2. Click the “Edit” button beside POS Type

An arrow points to the "Edit" button beside "POS Type".

  3. In the window that opens, click the “POS Type” drop-down menu, and select TouchBistro

  4. Enter/paste your TouchBistro Restaurant ID into the “Restaurant ID” field

The Restaurant ID field is highlighted and the Restaurant ID has been entered.

  5. Before saving, you can use the checkboxes to configure how your POS Items from TouchBistro will appear in WISK. For more information, please see the "Customizing Your Sales Data / POS Items" section below

Note: You can return to this screen at any time if you wish to check one of the boxes later. However we recommend finalizing your setup before you start mapping POS Items.

  6. When finished, click “Save”

An arrow points to the "Save' button

  7. After the integration is complete, WISK will pull up to your last 2 years of sales data from TouchBistro. It may take a few hours for your sales data to appear.

Note: If you encounter any errors during the integration process, or your sales data isn’t appearing, please reach out in the chat or email [email protected].

Customizing Your Sales Data / POS Items

When setting up the integration, or anytime after, you can customize how your sales data / POS Items appear in WISK. This is essential if you make extensive use of modifiers.

Important: To reduce the amount of effort, it’s best to customize your sales data after integrating and before mapping your POS Items. You want to make sure everything is right before adding recipes.

  • Include all POS Items even if not sold - This pulls every item that exists in your POS's menu. By default, WISK only pulls items with sales from the last two years to keep the number of items manageable. If you toggle this on, it pulls every menu item, and any new items you create before they are sold for the first time

  • Include modifiers (checked by default)- If you use modifiers for your menu items

The next options appear when the "Include modifiers" box is selected. In TouchBistro, there are two types of modifiers, text and menu.

Text modifiers are primarily notes that don't affect the ingredients or cost of the item. Examples include "over easy", "medium rare", on "on the rocks" etc.

Menu modifiers are pre-programmed buttons in your POS that may include an up-charge or use different ingredients.

  • Import Modifiers as separate POS Items (checked by default) - When you select this option, your menu item modifiers appear as separate POS Items. This applies to both modifiers that include an up-charge, and modifiers with a price of 0.

For example, if you sell a Tito's Vodka Single and you use modifiers to track the mix that it is sold with, it will appear differently depending on whether this box is checked. Lets say we sell it with Orange Juice:

    • Checked - There will be a separate POS Item for "Tito's Vodka Single", and for "Orange Juice". Orange Juice could be used as a modifier in multiple items, and it will only appear as one POS Item.

    • Unchecked - There will be a combined POS Item of "Tito's Vodka Single - Orange Juice".

  • Include text modifiers - If this is toggled on, those text modifiers mentioned above are imported into your WISK account as POS Items. Toggling this on will depend on how you've set up your POS, but most venues won't want this checked because it can create a large number of POS Items.

Note: In some cases, a venue may be using text modifiers incorrectly to function as menu modifiers. In this case, having "Include text modifiers" toggled on ensures it gets imported as a POS Item.

  • Include modifiers with price of 0 - If toggled on, menu modifiers that don't affect the price are imported into your WISK account as POS Items. For example, you may have a Pad Thai menu item with a choice of protein (chicken, beef, tofu, etc). If it isn't toggled on, you'll see just see "Pad Thai", but if toggled on there is a POS item for each option that you can map accordingly.

Other examples include the type of mix used in a drink (orange juice, ginger ale, etc) or the choice of side with an entree (fries, soup, salad). This has the potential to create a large number of POS Items, but can provide greater accuracy with your recipe mapping / costing.

Reimporting Sales Data

After making those changes, they apply to any sales data imported from that point forward.

When you make the changes, you can apply them to the past by reimporting your sales data.

When you click "Yes" you can choose if you want to reimport sales from a completed inventory or a specific day to the present.

For more information about reimporting sales, see:

Note: You can only reimport sales for "open" inventory periods. You won't be able to reimport sales beyond your last locked inventory. If you have no locked inventories, you can reimport up to the maximum number of days allowed for the specific POS

Clear Previous Sales Data

Most customization for your POS integration should happen early in your venue's setup. The ideal flow is to import the sales with the settings you want, and see if the output matches your expectations.

If it doesn't, you can make more changes and try again. As part of this, you can ask a member of the WISK Team to clear all your imported sales data.

This does the following

  1. Deletes all sales data from the venue

  2. Keeps all mapped POS Items (if any)

  3. Removes all unmapped POS Items

It then reimports everything with the updated settings. This is used because sometimes a POS has a limitation on how far back the end user can re-import the sales. When the data is cleared by a member of the WISK Team goes back as far as possible.
